|| Gout Pain : Some Lifestyle Causes|
|Gout is a type of arthritis that causes severe
attacks of joint pain and swelling (often in the toe,
but also in other parts of the body. The pain and
swelling of gout is caused by uric acid crystals
building up in the joint which causes inflammation.
Uric acid usually dissolves in the blood and is
flushed out by the kidneys. If there is too much
uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia) or if the
kidneys cannot remove it quickly enough, crystals
form that collect in the joints, kidneys, skin and other soft tissues.
Gout is more common in men than in women.
The consequences of the build up of uric acid,
include acute and chronic gouty arthritis, kidney
stones, and local deposits of uric acid (tophi).
Gouty arthritis is is said to be the most common
cause of inflammatory arthritis in men over 40.
